For many women in Tamil Nadu, faith must be lived quietly. Sushma Begam, a young mother in a Muslim household, listens to her tiny audio Bible in secret. “If anyone saw me with a Bible, my life would be the biggest problem,” she says.
The audio Bible allows her to hear God’s Word without fear, bringing peace and strength even in the midst of opposition.
Mariyam, a widow, once refused to believe in Christ. But when her brother gave her a “radio Bible,” she began listening secretly at night. Today, she falls asleep to the sound of Scripture and wakes comforted by God’s Word.
And Gowsia, from another Muslim family, listens when her husband leaves for work. She memorizes verses and shares them naturally in conversation—planting seeds of faith within her own home.
Light for the Blind
For Muthu Kumar, who was born blind, the audio Bible opened Scripture for the first time in his life. “I cried to God,” he remembers, “Why am I illiterate? How will I ever know Your Word?”
When he finally received a Tamil-language audio Bible, everything changed. Muthu and his wife, Sakila—who came from a Muslim family—began listening together each day. Their faith grew, they were baptized, and their children came to Christ. Now, in a area where hundreds of blind people live in poverty, Muthu has become a beacon of hope.
“My prayer,” he says, “is that all of them may get this device for their spiritual life.”
