BREAKING NEWS: Bloodshed in Sudan as the people protest for a civilian government

Khartoum, SUDAN Just a month ago, we received news from our Frontline Workers in Sudan regarding massive demonstrations protesting ruthless former president Omar al Bashir.

Today the situation has become even more serious as civilian protesters violently clash with current military government officials. The military forces who now sit in power have agreed to a transition of power to the people.

Then, yesterday the situation took a turn when, for the first time, the military attacked protesters killing six people.

In this raw footage from our Frontline Workers you can see that live ammunition is being fired during protests in Khartoum. We encourage you to join us in prayer for the nation and its people.

An opportunity for evangelism among the chaos.

The anti-Christian constitution of the previous dictator, Bashir, is no longer in effect, and the current demonstrations displayed by the protests offer a unique window of opportunity for Frontline Workers.

While this is a violent and dangerous situation, it also affords the opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus by going into the crowds and providing aid and comfort in the form of cold water, food, and most importantly, by freely sharing the Gospel message.

As protesters risk their lives to experience the freedom of a civilian government, our Frontline Workers are willing to take the same risk so that others can experience the spiritual freedom of a relationship with Christ. Since the former government had outlawed Christian evangelism, this time of uncertainty is a unique window to share Christ with a nation in turmoil.

Right now, your prayers and gifts to reach the nation of Sudan are urgently needed! Many who have never heard the message of Jesus can experience the love and comfort that only He can provide!

BREAKING NEWS: Crisis in Sudan opens short window for the Gospel

Khartoum, Sudan — Massive demonstrations have broken out in Sudan leading to a military coup that has overthrown Sudanese president Omar al Bashir.  Since 1989 he has ruled Sudan with brutal oppression; killing of his own people, and ordering harsh persecution and expulsion of Christians. Over the last several months thousands of Sudanese took to the streets protesting this ruthless and violent regime.

On April 11, just two days ago, Bashir was overthrown. The Sudanese constitution has been suspended, and a military transitional government has been installed. However, the demonstrations are continuing and people are demanding a civilian lead government. Consequently, the country remains in a state of instability with little to no police presence on the streets.

New Opportunities for Evangelism
& Freedom for our Frontline Workers

Today, our Frontline Workers are rejoicing that they are temporarily free from oppression but they ask that we would all join with them in prayer that the new government would abandon the persecution of the past and support evangelistic efforts throughout the country.

While this is a very difficult and dangerous situation, it also affords the opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus by providing aid to the people, and proclaiming the saving message of salvation!  As this is a turbulent and uncertain time, we do not know how long we will have to openly share the Gospel in the country.

As we spoke to our director in Sudan, we could hear the concern in his voice for the future of his country, but we also sensed the excitement he has for this unexpected opportunity to show the people of Sudan how much Jesus loves and cares for them

Raw footage from Frontline Workers shows the intense and violent situation in Sudan.

Prayer and Support Request

This is a crucial time frame where our Frontline Workers can finally experience the freedom to share the Gospel without government interference. At the same time we can show the love of Christ by providing aid packages to citizens in a time of grave uncertainty.

Your prayers and gifts to reach the nation of Sudan are urgently needed! Many who have never heard the message of Jesus can experience the love of Christ for the first time!

Floods in Sudan destroy thousand of homes, dozens killed

Floods in Sudan have destroyed thousands of homes.

Heavy rainfall in Sudan has continued since last Wednesday in the Khartoum area of Sudan causing the destruction of thousands of homes in the region. Largely unreported by the media, tens of thousands of people remain displaced by the floods without access to shelter, food, and other necessities.

Call of Hope has been working to spread the Gospel to the people of Sudan for over 40 years, and today they are in desperate need of our help. Call of Hope frontline workers are responding to this crisis by offering:

  • Blankets, tents, and shelter for families
  • Food parcels
  • Medicine and basic health assistance
  • A team of volunteers to distribute aid and assist flood victims
  • Prayer, trauma counseling, and the Gospel message

Call of Hope frontline workers are currently on the ground responding to both Christian and Non-Christian families who are in need of your prayers and support. With your help, we can physically assist flood victims, strengthen the body of local believers, and share the empowering message of the Gospel to Muslims.

Would you give a gift today to partner with us in helping those who are displaced and in desperate need of our help?

Many Sudanese live in mud huts. After heavy flooding, thousands of these families have been displaced as their homes and possessions have been entirely washed away.
